For Caregivers

Better nights for the person you care for and for you.

If you're managing overnight urinary incontinence for a family member, the PureWick system can help both of you sleep through the night. No bathroom trips. No pad changes. And it may be covered by insurance.

Works externally — no insertion, no discomfort
Used overnight at bedside — no waking up
Medicare and most insurance plans may cover it
What PureWick does

A better way to manage incontinence overnight.

The PureWick™ Female External Catheter is a non-invasive urine collection system designed for overnight use. Unlike traditional catheters — which require insertion and carry infection risk — PureWick works entirely externally. It sits gently against the body and uses soft suction to draw urine away into a sealed canister at the bedside.

For caregivers, this means no more waking up to change pads or assist with bathroom trips at 2am. For the person being cared for, it means staying in bed, staying comfortable, and sleeping through the night with dignity.

PureWick is used in hospitals across the country. RA Fischer brings it home — along with the insurance support to make it accessible.

Why caregivers choose it

What changes when PureWick is part of overnight care.

The difference for both caregiver and patient is usually felt within the first night.

Uninterrupted sleep for everyone
No bathroom trips during the night. No waking to change pads or clothing. The person you care for stays comfortable in bed, and so do you.
Dignity and comfort preserved
PureWick is non-invasive. No discomfort, no embarrassment. Many patients find it far more comfortable than pads or traditional catheters.
Reduced skin breakdown risk
Prolonged moisture from incontinence is a leading cause of skin irritation and pressure injuries. PureWick draws urine away continuously, keeping the skin dry overnight.
Getting started

How to get PureWick covered by insurance.

The process is simpler than most caregivers expect. RA Fischer helps manage the insurance and documentation process, so caregivers are not left coordinating everything alone.

Full insurance coverage guide
1
Contact us — we check coverage first
Fill out our intake form or call us. We verify your family member's Medicare or private insurance coverage before anything else — no commitment required. This helps confirm whether PureWick supplies may be covered and what, if any, out-of-pocket cost may apply.

2
We coordinate with the doctor and required forms
RA Fischer works with your family member's physician to request the required prescription or order and supporting medical documentation, such as chart notes. We also provide any patient forms that need to be reviewed and signed, so your family member understands the insurance and supply process.
3
PureWick ships to your door
Once coverage, documentation, and required forms are complete, eligible patients may receive the PureWick system and first month of wicks — or wick refills only, if they already have the system. Setup support is available if needed, and we also provide helpful guides and videos.

PureWick is designed for women managing urinary incontinence, particularly overnight. It's most commonly used for elderly patients, post-surgical care, or anyone who has difficulty getting to the bathroom at night. If the person you care for is waking up repeatedly, using pads that need changing, or experiencing skin irritation from moisture, PureWick may be a good fit. Contact us to discuss whether it makes sense for your situation.
In many cases, yes. Medicare Part B and most Medicare Advantage plans cover the PureWick system and monthly wick refills for eligible patients. Private insurance plans often cover it as well. The exact coverage depends on the specific plan and the patient's diagnosis. RA Fischer verifies coverage before anything is ordered — contact us and we'll check at no obligation.
Most caregivers find it straightforward after the first night. The PureWick wick sits externally against the body — no insertion — and connects via tubing to a small canister at the bedside. A Treatment Specialist will walk you through the full setup over the phone when your order arrives. Many caregivers describe the setup call as taking about 10 minutes.
Wicks are replaced daily — one per night is the standard. For eligible patients, RA Fischer ships 30 replacement wicks automatically every 30 days so you never have to reorder. The canister and tubing are reusable and only need occasional cleaning.
For insurance coverage, yes — a physician needs to document the diagnosis and complete an authorization form. RA Fischer sends that paperwork directly to the doctor's office and follows up to get it completed. If the person you care for doesn't have a current doctor, we can help you think through next steps. You don't need to coordinate between us and the doctor yourself.
RA Fischer Co. is an authorized PureWick supplier. We handle insurance coverage, ship directly to your home, and manage monthly refills. Contact us to get started — you don't need to find PureWick through a pharmacy or medical supply store to use insurance benefits.
